Quality, durability, and good value for money.
Usually, people say you can’t have all three. But in our experience, you absolutely can.
Over the past decade of designing, renovating, and building eight houses, we have tried all the big flooring companies. The one who has us returning time after time is Carpet Court who provide quality, durable and good value products – exactly what we’re after.
Our local Carpet Court has a wide range of products, and for House 8, we knew we wanted to do something a little different. So, here’s what we selected and why.
Hybrid planks
For our main living areas, laundry and hallway, we wanted something warm, comfortable, and durable. With two young boys, a builder husband, a large pup and inside-shoe-wearing wife, this was a must. We wanted a quality hybrid that was neither too dark nor too light, and while we had a few good options, we ultimately decided on the Florence Rigid hybrid in the colour Ghosted Blackbutt, and we’re very glad we did.
It's made from a combination of high-quality materials, including a commercial grade wear layer on top and an acoustic foam underlayment, which helps cushion the floor and make it more comfortable to walk on. Its composition makes the Florence Rigid hybrid flooring resistant to scratches, dents, and stains, so it's a great option for high-traffic areas or homes with pets or kids.
Hybrid flooring is also water-resistant, which makes it a great option for rooms with a higher risk of moisture, like kitchens and laundry rooms. And if you're someone who loves the look of wood like we do but wants something a bit more practical, hybrid flooring is a great solution.
Another big advantage of hybrid flooring is that it's easy to install and maintain. These floors can be easily cut to fit around corners and edges, so they're a great option for DIY projects. Jesse had it laid in under a day, and the kids even helped!

Carpet
With so many carpet options on the market, it's little wonder that one of our FAQs is What carpet do you recommend? And for us, the answer has always been Solution Dyed Nylon (SDN) because we're practical people and need the durability!
When I went into Carpet Court to select House 8's carpet, I thought I would be walking out with a solution dyed nylon like every other time. And I did... but this time I was pleasantly surprised to be able to pick something environmentally friendly... from their ECONYL® range..
For those unfamiliar with ECONYL® regenerated nylon, it is a type of yarn made from
recycled materials, specifically recycled nylon. It’s a regenerated nylon which is 100%
recycled yarn made from nylon waste such as old carpets, fabric scraps and fishing nets.
Love that!
I was a bit worried that it would feel hard or scratchy or just not as good as the non-
environmentally friendly options — but we've lived with it for a year now, and we can
honestly say it's our favourite carpet. Carpet Court had beautiful colours and textures to
decide from in the ECONYL® range, and we ended up going with the Genesis Eaves option. It was the perfect solution and probably the most commented-on fixture in our home. We would purchase it again for sure.
We hope you are inspired by our selections!
